Your information
Privacy Notice
This notice explains how BRISTL uses the personal information you provide when joining our app waitlist.
Last updated: 27 July 2026
Who is responsible for your information?
The data controller is Benjamin James Weller, trading as BRISTL. You can contact BRISTL about privacy or data-protection matters at hello@bristlnow.co.uk.
What information do we collect?
When you join the waitlist, we collect your first name, email address, whether you describe yourself as a resident, visitor, student, venue owner or manager, or other business owner (if you choose to answer), an optional business or venue name for business respondents, the type of phone you use, whether you are willing to test BRISTL and provide feedback, your communication preferences, and the date and time of your submission.
Why do we use it?
We use this information to administer the BRISTL app waitlist, understand the broad mix of people interested in the app, provide launch and early-access updates where requested, invite willing participants to test BRISTL, and respond to privacy requests.
Our lawful bases
We rely on our legitimate interests to operate and understand the waitlist and prepare BRISTL for launch. We rely on your consent for optional launch-marketing emails and invitations to help test the app. You can withdraw your consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of earlier use.
Who receives your information?
BRISTL does not sell your personal information. We use service providers supporting the website, database and email service, including OpenAI, Cloudflare and Google. They process information only to provide their services to BRISTL and are expected to protect it appropriately.
International processing
Some technology providers may process information outside the UK. Where this happens, BRISTL uses services that provide recognised safeguards for international transfers, such as adequacy arrangements or approved contractual protections.
How long do we keep it?
We plan to retain identifiable waitlist information until no later than 12 months after the BRISTL app launches, unless you become an active BRISTL user, ask us to delete it sooner, or we need to retain a minimal record to honour an unsubscribe request. We will review this period as the service develops.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights to access, correct, erase or restrict the use of your information, receive a portable copy, object to processing based on legitimate interests, and withdraw consent.
To exercise a right or unsubscribe, email hello@bristlnow.co.uk. We may need to confirm your identity before completing a request.
Complaints
Please contact us first so we can try to resolve your concern. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
Changes to this notice
We may update this notice as BRISTL develops or our legal identity changes. The latest version will always appear on this page with its revision date.
